Sequential Drumtraks

Digital Drum Machine (1984)

Drumtraks diagram

This has got to be one of my favourite drum machines. It has a broad range of super punchy sounds and is great fun to program in the studio.

The Sounds

The Drumtraks when released had no original sounds in it, rather they were sourced from a number of other contemporary machines. I noticed this while comparing the binary files for each of the various machines when making new soundsets - they are identical.

  • The Bass, Claps, Tamb and Cowbell are from the LM-1
  • The Snare, Tom and Hi Hat are from the DX / DMX
  • The Rim, Cabasa, Crash and Ride are from the Linndrum

Which OS?

Two operating systems are generaly available for the Drumtraks - 0.4 and 0.5. The midi guide available here does a good job explaining the differences but 0.5 is my pick as it has Pattern MIDI sync (0.4 can only sync when in Song mode).
